Dr Melissa Tan Wee Ping

Biography

Dr Melissa Tan Wee Ping is a senior consultant dermatologist, Mohs surgeon, dermatologic and laser surgeon. She specialises in Mohs micrographic surgery, managing skin cancers, keloids and scars, providing aesthetic treatments and skin rejuvenation, and treating general skin, hair and nail diseases in adults and children.

Prior to setting up her own practice, Melissa was chief of the Dermatologic Surgery and Laser Unit, as well as the Skin Cancer Unit at National Skin Centre (NSC). She is a highly experienced Mohs surgeon and has been performing Mohs micrographic surgery since 2010. Melissa was the only full-time Mohs surgeon at NSC from 2011-2017. She developed the fledging Mohs unit into its current position as the recognised Mohs centre in Singapore and the region. In addition, Melissa is also highly skilled in dermatologic surgery and laser procedures for keloids, acne scars and other scars, birthmarks, moles, skin tumours and pigmentation.

After graduating from National University of Singapore (MBBS) in 2000, Melissa completed her dermatology training at NSC. With a passion in skin cancers, she went through an intensive dual fellowship in Mohs micrographic surgery and advanced dermatologic surgery, and cutaneous lymphoma in 2009 at the renowned Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital, London.

Melissa is a caring and meticulous doctor. She has received numerous accolades for excellent patient service. She is a perfectionist in patient care delivery and has been awarded the prestigious Clinical Practice Improvement Project Sustainability Award. In addition, she has a keen interest in research and had been principal investigator or co-investigator for numerous research grants. In her more than 20 years as a doctor, she has trained and mentored many trainees and dermatologists from Singapore and the region. She continues to speak at international and local conferences.

Melissa speaks English, Mandarin, Hokkien and Japanese. She is a certified TCM dietician and a proponent of active, healthy living.
